Download Motorola V3x Software Engineer
J. JD. U2C. 08 Apr 2006I went back to phone shop to see what they could do about battery. Was told Moto aware of problem and that's why they gave us 2 chargers in pack, useless if phone dies in car.So I got a free car charger to compensate. Apparently Motorola about to release a new battery for this phone that should work better, problem.must be purchased by consumer, no swap over. Still think phones great.
One would think if 'they' had the ability to create such 'smart' phones, 'they' could create a battery to match the capabilities. Rating 0.

07 Apr 2006Hello Morhinio, thanks for your kind explanation regarding the Linux platform. That is my first understanding on V3x when I read your previous posting. As you are a programmer and are the expert of this matter completely, that 'V3x using Moto own OS which the whole software was based on Linux platform and not using Linux OS as E680(i), A780, E2, etc' I dont understand some guy out here complaining to you that V3x doesnt use Linux OS. To the person accusing this, Morhinio never stated the above mentioned, you just have not read carefully what Morhinio wrote. I hope by now is clear to you his found.
As we are not the expert, its an interesting discovery. Anyway, Morhinio could you use the mp3 from the micro SD as the ringtone directly, or you have to move to internal memory first, like the non 3G Moto software such as L7/V3i, etc? N Yes, according to moto website I also read V3x can use Real video format (rm), but from my experience with E770(voda), E1000, V975 could use some rm file but not all (E770 play more rm file), but mpeg4 and 3gp for sure. As for E680, it can play all video formats (rm, 3gp and mpeg4), I believe A780 and E2 should too as they all use nearly identical software.
Hope this info help, as this arena to learn not to dispute. But again that is my opinion and everyone here have rights with their sole perspective. Thanks in advance. Moto ROCKS!!!. Rating 0.

D. djjohnb. S9X. 06 Apr 2006I have had this phone around a month now, I had to send my first one back within 6 days as it just packed in on me. Since receiving the new one I have had no problems at all.until now!!!! I am on the O2 network in the U.K.
When receiving text messages the phone just decides to update previous messages received with my new ones or vice versa which result in a whole load of mumbo jumbo that I cant understand.also I keep receiving blank texts due to this aswell. This has been happening for about a week now and its really starting to annoy me!! Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone have a solution to the problem???. Rating 0. M. Morhinio. msg.
05 Apr 2006I did not say that the phone runs Linux. Please read carefully before crticizing. The phone software was built on a Linux platform. I did not say the colour of Vodafone eas not nice as this is personal taste.
I said that the build quality is different. Vodafone one is hard plastic-Generic one is soft plastic like Motorola PEBL. As for the software which Vodafone run, i didnt say it was bad, i said that in comparasant to the original software theyve done a bad job.I dot want to get into an in depth software engineering debate as the avearge GSM arena user just wants to know an opinion. All i said was its a lovely phone but go for the Original generic version. I definately know what im talking about as ive compared all versions. I suggest you do the same. You can also do with improving your comprehension.
A good way of doing so is reading more. So in the future when you respond, 1st read the article carefully, understand it, summarize it, then give an opinion. Rating 0. G. Gangsta Moto. MxC.
05 Apr 2006Yo Chris. I've had mine for 2months also on Orange and YES you can add more contacts. Just do it a different way i.e. If for instance u addedd the contact that got corrupt direct from a received text message or something.
Instead try entering it manually.Also. Don't really think you know what ur on about concerning the cam and vid icons. Unless my phone is different but. There are two very distinctive icons for cam and video. A camera icon and a camcorder icon. Plus on my phone they are only found in the Media folder under main menu. Dont know where else you have it on ur phone but if at all say the homescreen.
Then thats cos it's there as a shortcut for quck access instead of going thru to ur media folder.i.e like the dedicated cam button on the right for quick pictures. Then again. I've only ever seen the Aeroplane mode function under settings so where else do ou see urs? Or is it just another shortcut ur on about?Holla back mate. Rating 0.
C. Chris. Srq. 05 Apr 2006I have had a V3x on Orange in UK for a couple of months now. It has a pretty bad software flaw that is known about.
There is a point where the phone-book (address book) stops working and any new contacts are corrupted. If you then try and call/text/edit that contact the software crashes back to the front (main) screen. If that contact calls you then you don't see their name (only the number) and the missed calls/redial lists stop working.Orange and Motorola say the problem is under investigation. My handset has been like this for 4 weeks now and so far the only comprimise it to delete the corrupted contacts and not add any more.I've also had problems with the bluetooth when using as a modem. Not sure if that's related.Other than that it's a great handset. The camera does make a shutter sound btw - you can even take a picture of yourself using the internal camera. Rating 0.
Y. iG6. 05 Apr 2006From what Morhinio wrote, I can tell that he has no idea waht he's talking about. Motorola V3x DOES NOT RUN ON LINUX. Yes, it's UI has been considerably improved, but it has nothing to do with Linux.

Only smartphones, like A780 run on Linux, and the upcoming Rokr E2 is the only non-smartphone that will runs on Linux. You can see screenshots of both the Linux UI and Motorola's V3x UI on mobile-review.com and you can clearly see the differnce. And one other thing that I disagree with him is about the vodafone version of this phone. I didn't like that blue colour of the original V3x, and I found the Vodafone's silver verion more attractive, so I bought it for about 250 euros, which I think was a very good deal.
