Fender Strat Value Serial Number
Courtesy ofNeither the date nor the value can be determined from the serial number. Fender’s amps, unlike their guitars, are not tracked by the serial number.
Is there are fender strat with sq serial number or only squire using this sq serial number detectorcon, Sep 30, 2019 #5. It won't affect value. A bad refret can.
Maya411,Your Starcaster is not a true Fender, but rather is a Chinese-made or Indonesian-made replica. The modern Starcaster series of guitars, amps, and drums are merely marketed by Fender, in order to use a successful brand name to help sell that line of cheaply-made, student-level instruments.Your axe was probably made in the year 2000.If it has an 'arrowhead' shaped headstock, then it was made in China. If it has the Stratocaster shaped headstock, then it was made in Indonesia.Depending up on the condition of your guitar it is worth anywhere from $79 to $110 USD.Sorry, dude. This is true, Guitar-Jim.Further complicating the matter is the notion that the original Fender Starcaster was a higher-quality semi-hollowbody, made in USA, with f-holes.Back to the budget models, the 'Starcaster by Fender' models, they were indeed budget models, sold as part of a starter pack, and marketed thru Costco, Best Buy, Target, and Sam's Club, since 2007 anyway. The original in this budget line, the S1 Starcasters by Fender, featured that arrow-head shape. Those were issued between 2004 and 2006.Having held one or two of them, I would say that $150 is a good starting price, only to see it negotiated down to $120, but only if the guitar were in top condition.😊.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here can tell me the year my Starcaster by Fender model was made? I know how much its worth considering I paid $110 for it used total, though I have upgraded the guitar by having the pickups changed to Texas Special Pickups, and the guitar has been properly intonated so the value may have rather increased, though its my first electric guitar and I have no means of ever selling it. Even though its a cheap gutiar and many consider it to be junk, I hold it at great value. I do have the money to drop on an actual Strat now, but I'd rather save that money up still and purchase a USA strat after the fact that I become a better guitar player and if I ever play for a living, which in this day and age its extremely competitive and a challenge. My guitar is made in China, though it is a Fender product, not a knockoff, its just not a Fender USA product, the gutiar was purchased from Guitar Center in Reno Nevada by me and it was shipped to California where I reside. Once again this guitar was bought preowned so it didn't come with a gig bundle, no amp or any other accessory, just the guitar itself.I'll be attaching 2 pictures, what the guitar looked like when I ordered it, and what the guitar looks like now. The serial number is CWS1202935.
And yes its crafted in China. Deci:I hate to be the barer of bad news but the pickups you installed are worth much more than the guitar itself even though the guitar looks beautiful. The Starchaser Pack made in China has a MSRP of about $200.00 USD, so it probably retailed for around $150.00 USD depending upon where you bought it.
At Costco's it's $99.99 USD, I've seen them there. Without the amp, gig bag, tuner, strings, strap, etc. It has a resale (used-used) value of about $35.00 USD. I hope you kept the pickups that you took out of it so that you can put them back in when you are ready to sell it for a higher quality instrument. Those Texas Special pickups are good pickups and you may want to put them into you new Strat once you get it or just sell them separately. Sorry bud, but that's just the way it is.Have a Great Weekend, kcbuck - Texas Boy. @kcbuck Thank you for the reply and I'm well aware of the pickups costing more than the guitar, considering I paid $200 for them and had the repair tech at guitar center install them.
I still have the original pickups and will have them swapped back whenever I get a USA made strat, but I'm never selling the guitar since it has huge sentimental value to me, being my first electric guitar, that's like selling your first born child to me, but I understand the nature of things and I knew what I was getting into when modding the guitar. Its not exactly bad news, but as I said, the value for me personally went up when I upgraded the guitar, and even if I were to sell it, its not going to be sold as is. Everything from the knobs to the decal would get removed in that regard because the way this guitar is reflects my identity on my soundcloud, which is I appreciate the comment btw, I'm more curious about the year the guitar was made, and as I said in my post, the guitar was purchased from Guitar Center in Reno Nevada and recently upgraded at Guitar Center in Hollywood.

Where the guitar itself was originally sold from I have no idea. @Sparky2 Thanks for the reply.
Sadly the skull and grey flame is a high quality decal I got off from Ebay which the design is one of a kind and in limited quantity, I dunno if its still available for purchase but it was like $8.99, but it sticks because its not a cheap sticker, its a laser cut high quality decal. I wish I was skilled enough to paint on it. The knobs on the guitar are actual strat knobs I got from Fender off of Amazon, I decided to go in black to mix things up and help it stand out. The same goes with the pickup selector switch cap, which using a cardboard shim actually made it go in since those caps tend to be tricky and don't exactly stay on the switch. So aside from all that and the Texas Special Pickups and the screws it has, everything else including the pickguard is completely original.
Including the original paint. Looks maybe nice but the sound is important too and I'm happy with how it sounds. The repair tech and Guitar Center did a fantastic job cleaning this guitar actually. It wasn't in dirty consider to start with but it really shows the difference.

That and having the stock strings swapped with new ones, it felt like getting a new guitar. The decal was added later on after the upgrade, but all in all. I'm happy with how it is now compared to first buying this guitar with the condition it was in.
It was advertised as excellent condition, though the bottom of the neck does have a defect with the wood making it harder to play the much higher notes for pick sweeping, but I can't sweep anyway since I'm still brand new with the instrument. The intonation was way out originally when I had it, so it really needed to be intonated most of all.2012? Okay so that's not too long ago. Good to know. I really like knowing the history of the things I own, it really gives it more of a backstory.
